Emma Amalia Ekwall (1838-1925) was an Swedish painter;Birthdate: 18 Gennaio 1838;

Parenti stretti: Daughter of Nils Fredrik Ekwall e Emilia Bernardina Carolina Carolina Ekwall;
Sister of painter Knut Alfred Ekwall.
Emma Ekwall was the first Swedish woman painter, received the Royal Medal. After graduating from the Academy of Painting, where she studied from 1865-1870, lived for a time in Munich and Leipzig. She painted mostly portraits of their children, floral still lifes and genre scenes. Her brother was the artist Knut Ekwall. She died in 1925 in Stockholm.
